Trees Reclaiming Man Made Structures: Bonsai Inspiration

It is still a post about trees, but an aside from bonsai.  This morning with coffee I decided to look up trees growing through buildings.  I’ve seen so many before but so what? That’s what was on my mind.

The photos I came across were amazing!  Some I had seen but many were new also.  I’ve put together some of the best I’ve found. All of these photos were sourced from google and where possible I’ve provided a link to the original source.

Part of the art of bonsai is finding inspiration and studying trees.  It was refreshing for me to see the wonderful ways that these trees have grown.  As a bonsai artist, by default most of your time is spent looking at bonsai trees…trees in pots.

But as it is nature we are trying to mimic, you will find a much faster progression in your skills, vision and designs by spending more time studying trees in nature and getting back to the the roots of the art.

The movement in some of these…how the branches reach for the light…and how the roots search for water is artistic….

The way some of these trees have grown is amazing…stunning……..It just goes to show you though that nature will always win.

Regardless of what we (mankind) make, our planet will always reclaim it.

Cheers and have a great night!

  1. Ooh, I love this post! I love to see trees fighting back against man made structures. It makes me very hopeful somehow – that no matter what damage humanity does, nature will just keep on keeping on somehow. I visited the temples of Angkor Wat in Cambodia and there are tree roots taking over some of the temples there. It is really stunning to witness their power and resilience 🙂
